iStar

The IBC is changing to help meet the needs of the research community.  In an effort to streamline the IBC process, all new IBC applications and renewals must go through the iStar system as of January 2014.  A single IBC application may cover multiple grants/projects, provided that all biohazardous procedures are included and described on the application.  Please contact the Biosafety Office if you have any questions about this process.

NEW! The USC Institutional Biosafety Committee has gone electronic!

  • All new IBC applications and renewals must now go through the iStar system as of January 2014.
  • All existing iStar members who have registered IACUC or IRB protocols need not do anything- simply log in to the iStar system and click the “IBC” tab.
  • To establish a new iStar account, go to the iStar home page at: iStar.usc.edu  and follow the instructions to request an iStar account.
  • Modifications to existing approved applications still require a paper modification BUA form available under BUA Forms.
