Annual Security Report

The University of Southern California’s Annual Security Report includes statistics for the previous three calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University of Southern California and on public property immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus, according to the requirements of the federal Jeanne Clery Act.

The requirements for reporting crimes under the Clery Act are contained in The Handbook for Campus Safety and Security (2011) prepared by the U.S. Department of Education, and which can be accessed at http://www2.ed.gov/admins/lead/safety/handbook.pdf

The Clery guidelines, which were designed to bring parity to all university crime-reporting nationally, specify which incidents are reported. Complete records of crimes reported in the city are available through the Los Angeles Police Department database at http://www.lapdonline.org/crime_mapping_and_compstat.

The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies related to alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault and other matters.
If you are unable to access the on-line report you may also request a paper copy from the Department of Public Safety by contacting Dan Wallace at (213) 740-5524.
